Our Missions
Our church does many missions per year. We have many willing to say, "Here Am I, Send Me."
GYM, or Guntersville Youth Ministry does many missions.
GYM, or Guntersville Youth Ministry does many missions.
- Most think our biggest and best trip is when they go to Baja, Mexico. Everyone that goes says it is so fun and exciting to meet all the people there in Baja. Even if they are performing hard manual labor, like pouring concrete and building roofs, they see the smiles of the men and womens faces of Baja, Mexico and know they are doing great things.
- Our youth group also goes to Nashville, Tennessee to do Inner City Work. The Nashville inner city work is where we go work with the poverty stricken people of the community of Nashville, Tennessee and help teach God's word.
- The Youth Group helps with Vacation Bible School, by teaching, acting, decorating, cleanup, and whatever is needed during the event.
- Some of our youth work at our Junior Journey Weekend Camp.
- We also go to Childhaven in Cullman, Alabama to purchase Christmas gifts for a teenage mom and her child. Most of them can't afford to purchase gifts for themselves. Families from our church sign up to buy the gifts that are on the wish list for the children and mother.
- We also host a Young at Heart Banquet by decorating, serving, and entertaining the "young at heart" from our church.
Our Junior Journey Kids, which consists of kindergarteners through 5th grade also do many types of mission work. - They collect box tops for education to buy books for Guntersville City Schools.
- They box Food for those who need assistance during the Thanksgiving Holidays. They typically have 60 boxes that are loaded with all of the Thanksgiving trimmings.
- Our Junior Journey kids bag groceries at a local grocery store right before Thanksgiving to earn tips used to purchase gifts for people who signed up for assistance through Christmas Coalition in Guntersville. The kids get the lists and go shopping on a Sunday afternoon to purchase and bag the requested items.
- They send cards to the sick, elderly, and shut in.
- They make diaper wreaths for new babies and their families.
- They make potted plants for shut ins.
Junior Journey and the GYM, Guntersville Youth Ministry, do lots of great things in showing many throughout our community and the world that doing God's work can be fun and entertaining. Hopefully making everyone have the desire to say: "HERE AM I, SEND ME!"
